Canadians now have easier access to information about active cancer clinical trials across the country through a new online platform launched by the Canadian Cancer Society.
The website, Cancer Trials Canada, was unveiled this week as the first public database designed for patients and their families.
The bilingual site, developed in collaboration with the Quebec–Clinical Research Organization in Cancer, lists both academic and pharmaceutical-led trials and provides educational resources about how clinical trials work, including potential risks and benefits.
A national survey conducted by the Angus Reid Institute and the Cancer Society found that while 90 per cent of Canadians support expanding access to clinical trials, more than half said they know little about how they operate.
The new portal aims to bridge that awareness gap while supporting patients searching for alternative treatments when standard therapies are limited.
