The Lambton County OPP is warning residents about door-to-door paving scams that have recently been reported in several areas of the county.
Homeowners say individuals have been going door to door offering discounted driveway paving, often using high-pressure sales tactics to secure quick decisions. Police say these crews may ask for cash up front, and in many cases the work is either poorly done, far too expensive, or never finished at all.
Residents are reminded to be cautious when someone shows up unexpectedly offering services. Police advise people to take their time before agreeing to work, ask for written estimates, check references, and avoid paying in full before the job is done to their satisfaction. If something feels suspicious, they say it is best not to proceed.
Anyone who notices unusual activity or believes they have been targeted by a paving scam should contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. In an emergency, call 911.
The Lambton County OPP says public awareness and quick reporting are key in helping prevent fraud and keeping the community safe.
