The Ontario government is providing the Municipality of South Huron and Southampton Arts with a total of $103,000 in funding this year through the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s Seed grant program. The funding will help local residents access programs, services, and activities that support community life in Huron-Bruce.
Lisa Thompson, MPP for Huron-Bruce, said the grants help community-led projects get started. “I am pleased to see both the Municipality of South Huron and Southampton Arts benefit from this support. Their efforts will inspire engagement, foster creativity, and contribute to the wellbeing of people throughout our communities,” she said.
The Seed grant program helps organizations strengthen their capacity to deliver programs and services. Funding can be used to plan new initiatives, pilot programs, or build the organization’s ability to support the community in the future.
The Municipality of South Huron will receive $89,800 over 12 months to hire a Recreation Coordinator. This role will focus on creating inclusive programs, promoting physical activity, and increasing the use of community facilities.
Southampton Arts will receive $13,200 over 12 months to run the Maker’s Table, an affordable craft workshop series. The program encourages creativity, learning, and connection in a welcoming community space.
