Police say one person has been charged following an early morning incident in Goderich last week.
According to Huron County Ontario Provincial Police, officers were called on Friday, December 12th, after an arson was caught on video outside a business on Bayfield Road. The footage showed one person setting a cardboard box on fire while another individual emerged from the box, narrowly avoiding injury.
Police attended the scene and arrested the person responsible nearby. A 29-year-old with no fixed address, has been charged with arson – disregard for human life, mischief endangering life, assault with a weapon, and failing to comply with probation.
He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich at a later date.
Police remind the public that the charges have not been proven in court and the accused is considered innocent until proven guilty.
