Huron County Ontario Provincial Police say one person has been charged following an investigation into reports of gunshots fired toward snowmobile riders in Huron East earlier this month.
Police say they received information that an individual fired gunshots in the direction of snowmobile operators on December 8th. After investigating, officers identified a suspect and laid charges on December 23rd.
As a result, a 60-year-old of Huron East has been charged with five counts of careless use of a firearm under the Criminal Code.
Police say several firearms were seized during the investigation, along with the accused’s firearms licence.
Police remind the public that the charges have not been proven in court and the accused is considered innocent until proven guilty.
