Police say a drug investigation near Mitchell has led to charges and the seizure of illegal drugs, helping improve community safety in Perth County.
On Wednesday, January 7th, members of the Perth County OPP Crime Unit, with help from the Huron-Perth Community Street Crime Unit and the West Region Emergency Response Team, carried out a search warrant at a home near the Town of Mitchell.
As a result of the search, police seized a quantity of suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, and Xanax, with an estimated street value of more than $7,800. Officers also seized Canadian cash and four imitation firearms.
A resident of the Municipality of West Perth was arrested and charged with several offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, including possession of methamphetamine, possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. The accused was also charged with failing to comply with probation.
The individual was held in custody and was scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford.
