The Municipality of Bluewater is reminding residents to help keep local roads safe after responding to two incidents of illegal dumping over the weekend.
Municipal staff say debris believed to be from a taken-apart deck was left on public roads in two locations. One incident happened on Sararas Road, just east of Highway 21, where the material was left on the roadway and created an immediate safety concern. A second dumping was found on Fansville Line, just south of Walnut Road.
The municipality says illegal dumping is dangerous and against the law. Materials left on roads can damage vehicles, create serious hazards for drivers, and lead to costly cleanups paid for by taxpayers.
Officials are asking anyone with information about these incidents to contact the Municipality of Bluewater or the OPP. All reports are kept confidential.
Residents are also reminded that there are proper and approved waste facilities available for disposing of debris. Dumping materials illegally puts others at risk and may result in fines or enforcement action.
The municipality encourages everyone to work together to keep Bluewater’s roads clean and safe. Anyone who sees illegal dumping in progress is asked to report it to the OPP right away.
