It’s Crabby Joe’s game day. The Exeter Hawks face off against Mount Brydges tonight at 8:00pm at the South Huron Recreation Centre in Exeter.
Exeter native Jayce Durand is continuing to make his mark with the Hawks this season. Durand, who wears number nine and plays left wing, grew up in Exeter and started skating at a young age.
Before joining the Hawks at age 17, Durand played for several teams, including the Perth Lakers and the South Huron Sabres. Coming back to play for his hometown team has been a special experience for him.
Now well into the season, Durand says the bond between players and coaches is strong.
Durand plays left wing and says it suits him best as a left-handed shooter. While he has played other positions in the past, he enjoys the wing role the most.
Durand has been part of the Hawks for three seasons.
Durand had nothing but praise for Hawks fans, saying their energy brings an electric atmosphere to the rink and helps motivate the team during games.
Ahead of Friday night’s game, Durand has a simple message for supporters.
Go tonight and cheer on your hometown Hawks! Come before or after the game and fuel up at Crabby Joe’s in Exeter.
