The Municipality of Bluewater is reminding residents to renew their dog licences before February 28th.
Dog licences must be renewed every year. New this year, residents can apply and pay online using Cloudpermit, the same system used for other municipal permits. Licences can also still be renewed in person at the municipal office. Anyone who gets a new dog must purchase a licence within 15 days. A late fee will apply if licences are not renewed by the end of February.
Bluewater uses lifetime dog tags. Each dog keeps the same tag and licence number for its entire life, but the licence fee must still be paid every year.
For regular, non-kennel licences, the fee is 20 dollars for the first dog, 25 dollars for a second dog in the same household, and 30 dollars for a third dog. A late fee of 15 dollars applies per dog. Replacement tags cost five dollars, and mailing a tag costs two dollars. A licence for a vicious dog or pit bull costs 100 dollars.
Residents who operate a boarding or breeding kennel must apply for a kennel licence each year. Kennel licences are not available online and must be completed through the municipality. The cost is 150 dollars, and an annual inspection is required. The property must also be properly zoned to allow a kennel.
Residents with questions or who need help can contact the Municipality of Bluewater’s Development Services Department. More information and the online application form are available on the municipality’s website.
