With an uptick of vehicles being broken into in Huron County, you’re being encouraged to Lock It or Lose It!
myFM spoke with OPP Constable David Yome, who told us more about their Lock It or Lose It campaign.
Leaving your vehicle unlocked is an invitation to would-be criminals to victimize you. By simply securing your vehicle and placing valuables out of sight, you’re making it far more difficult for criminals to steal from you.
To stay safe, police are suggesting you never leave your vehicle running or unattended, lock your doors and roll up your windows, keep valuables out of sight, keep your registration and insurance in your wallet and not in the glove compartment, pocket your keys and don’t leave them in the vehicle, and park in a well light area at night.
Yome shared with us what thieves often look for. First thing they look for is any vehicles left running or is any doors are unlocked.
If your vehicle is broken into, call the OPP’s non-emergency line at 1-888-310-1122 to report the theft.
