One of Norfolk County’s longest-running agricultural organizations is getting ready to celebrate a major milestone later this month.
The Norfolk Soil and Crop Improvement Association will host its 85th Annual Meeting and Banquet on January 29th at the German Hall in Delhi.
That was Director Mike Pasztor, speaking about the event.
He said a lot of the members are very excited about the guest speaker, Adam Shoalts.
A man who’s book last year made it into Indigo’s Top 10 Best Books of 2025 list:
Beyond the banquet itself, the event reflects the broader role the Norfolk Soil and Crop Improvement Association plays in the local farming community.
Norfolk County is often referred to as Ontario’s Garden, with a wide range of crops and farming practices across the region.
Membership with the Norfolk Soil and Crop Improvement Association is open to anyone and costs $40 per year.
The group has directors representing every township in the county, from Port Dover and Port Rowan to Delhi, Simcoe, Waterford, and along the Norfolk–Elgin border.
Organizers say events like the annual banquet are important not just for networking, but for sustaining the organization’s year-round programs.
Proceeds and sponsorships help fund educational events and a local bursary program for high school students pursuing post-secondary studies in agriculture or environmental fields.
With winter slowing down most farm activity, the late-January timing also makes it an ideal opportunity for people to reconnect, learn something new, and support a long-standing local organization.
Tickets and more information about the event are available through the Ontario Soil and Crop website at OntarioSoilCrop.org, under the events section.
