At its regular meeting on February 2nd, Bluewater Council made several important decisions.
Council approved a plan to build a new enclosed outdoor storage unit with a gravel base at the Stanley Complex in Varna. This new unit will hold tables, chairs, and other event equipment that is currently kept inside the gymnasium.
Council also awarded the contract for roadside grass cutting for the 2026, 2027, and 2028 seasons. The job was given to Brads Lawn Care for a base price of $71,500 plus HST for 2026.
Changes are coming to parking rules in Hensall as well. Council directed staff to update the Traffic and Parking By-law to allow overnight parking from 3:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m., between November 15th and April 15th each year. This change will apply to the west side of Wellington Street between King Street (County Road 84) and Richmond Street South.
In addition, Council asked staff to include parallel parking spaces in the new design for the upcoming reconstruction of Wellington Street in the same area.
Council also approved two funding agreements with the Ontario government. The first agreement will provide $38,000 through the Pothole Prevention and Repair Program. The second agreement will provide $69,418.58 through the 2025–2026 Fire Protection Grant.
