The Town of Goderich is getting ready to celebrate Winterfest this weekend with fun activities planned for all ages.
Jenna Ujiye, Tourism and Community Development Manager for the Town of Goderich, says the community is excited to welcome residents and visitors to the annual winter event.
Winterfest kicks off on Friday with daytime and evening activities. Families can enjoy Make a Mess indoor play at the Huron County Museum. In the evening, a popular event makes its return.
Friday night wraps up with meat draws and live music at the Legion.
Saturday is expected to be one of the busiest days of Winterfest. Outdoor activities will take place at Courthouse Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Events include basketball, axe throwing, mini sticks, and a large inflatable maze.
There will also be an open swim at the Maitland Recreation Centre and a meat draw at the Legion in the evening.
On Sunday, activities continue with open gym times, ringette, bingo at the Columbus Centre, and an open skate in the afternoon. Sports fans can also enjoy a Super Bowl watch party at Boston Pizza.
Ujiye says many events are drop-in and free, making Winterfest easy for families to attend.
Winterfest has been part of Goderich for decades. Ujiye says she remembers attending Winterfest as a child.
Ujiye has been helping organize Winterfest since 2020 and says it’s rewarding to see so many community groups, businesses, and organizations come together each year.
Even if winter weather hits, Winterfest will still go ahead.
