A yellow weather advisory for fog is in effect this morning for Exeter, Goderich, Bluewater and Southern Huron County.
Near zero visibility is expected in some areas due to dense fog. Officials say visibility may suddenly drop at times, which could make driving dangerous. Conditions are expected to improve later this morning.
Drivers are reminded to turn on their headlights, slow down and leave plenty of space between vehicles.
Environment Canada has also issued a special weather statement for the same area, warning of possible significant rainfall and freezing rain on Wednesday. The system is expected to begin overnight or early Wednesday morning and continue until Wednesday evening.
Rainfall amounts could reach between 10 and 25 millimetres. Some areas may also see freezing rain, with ice build-up between 2 and 5 millimetres. Temperatures are expected to be close to the freezing mark, so there is still some uncertainty about how much freezing rain will fall. However, forecasters say at least a brief period of freezing rain is likely.
Roads and sidewalks may become icy and slippery. Travel delays are possible, and there could be local power outages. Flash flooding and water pooling on roads may also occur.
