There is still time to sign up for the Exeter Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY), a walk to help people facing hunger, homelessness, and other challenges in Southern Huron. The event takes place on Saturday, February 28th.
By joining the walk, participants support United Way Perth-Huron’s Southern Huron Connection Centre and the Huron Homelessness Initiative, both in Exeter. The Southern Huron Connection Centre provides basic needs like meals, showers, washrooms, laundry, and support through local agency partnerships. The Huron Homelessness Initiative offers shelter for women escaping violence, housing for youth at risk, and transitional housing through Huron Turning Point.
On the day of the walk, check-in begins at 4 p.m. at the Exeter Christian Reformed Church, with opening ceremonies at 4:45 p.m. A light meal will be served at 6 p.m. Walkers can choose either a two- or five-kilometre route, both finishing back at the church. Participants who raise over $150, or $75 for youth under 18, will receive a CNOY toque.
