Today is Pink Shirt Day, a day that encourages people to stand up against bullying and promote kindness.
The movement began in 2007 in Nova Scotia. Two students decided to wear pink shirts to support a younger student who had been bullied for wearing pink. Their simple act of kindness inspired others, and the idea quickly spread.
Since then, Pink Shirt Day has grown into a national movement across Canada. Each year, people are encouraged to wear pink to show support for those who have experienced bullying and to raise awareness about the impact it can have.
Schools, workplaces and communities often take part by organizing activities that promote kindness, respect and inclusion. Many people use the day to share positive messages and remind others of the importance of empathy and standing up for one another.
