The Municipality of Lambton Shores has launched its annual recruitment campaign for on-call and part-time firefighters.
Lambton Shores Fire and Emergency Services is looking to hire new firefighters for all five local stations. These include Station 1 in Arkona, Station 2 in Forest, Station 3 in Grand Bend, Station 4 in Northville and Station 5 in Thedford.
The department’s on-call firefighters respond to many types of emergencies. These include fires, medical calls, technical rescues, hazardous material incidents, wildfires and motor vehicle collisions. Firefighters also help with fire prevention and public education in the community.
To apply, candidates must be at least 18 years old, have a valid driver’s licence and be legally allowed to work in Canada. The hiring process includes physical fitness testing, an aptitude test and an interview. Successful applicants must complete mandatory recruit training.
Fire Chief James Marshall says the department is proud of its dedicated team. He adds that as the community grows, there is a greater need for more firefighters who are committed and ready to serve their neighbours.
Anyone interested in applying can attend one of two information sessions. The first will be held at 7 p.m. on February 25 at the Northville fire station. The second will take place at 7 p.m. on March 11 at the Forest fire station.
The deadline to apply is March 27th. More information, including how to apply, is available on the Municipality of Lambton Shores website.
