The Municipality of Bluewater says Half Load Season will begin on March 1st.
The reduced load period usually runs from March 1st to April 30th each year. However, the exact dates may change depending on weather and road conditions.
During this time, weight limits are placed on municipal roads to prevent damage. Roads are especially vulnerable in early spring when frost is coming out of the ground. Heavy vehicles can cause serious damage, so load restrictions help protect the road surface.
The restrictions are enforced under Bluewater’s By-Law 104-2021, which limits the weight of vehicles on municipal roadways during the reduced load period.
