Communities across Canada took part in the Annual Coldest Night of the Year walk this past Saturday, including several locations in Huron County.
In Exeter, 100 walkers on 15 teams came together to support the Southern Huron Connection Centre. The event raised $47,920. The top fundraising team was the Grand Bend Winter Walkers, who raised $10,890.
In Wingham, 15 teams raised a total of $22,905 for the Northern Huron Connection Centre.
Goderich had 250 walkers participate, raising an impressive $156,552 for the Huron Homelessness Initiative.
Organizers say the strong community support shows how much residents care about helping people facing homelessness and hardship in the region.
