Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating after an arrest in Huron County.
The Special Investigations Unit has invoked its mandate following an incident involving the Ontario Provincial Police.
Police say officers with the Huron County OPP arrested a person on Wednesday, March 4, shortly before 2:30 p.m. in connection with an assault investigation. While the person was in custody, they required medical attention and were taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
When the SIU invokes its mandate, it means the independent agency will review the circumstances of the incident. Because of the investigation, the OPP says it cannot provide any further information at this time.
