A rainfall warning remains in effect for parts of Huron County, including Exeter, Goderich, Bluewater, and Southern Huron County, as heavy rain continues to move through the region.
Environment and Climate Change Canada, has upgraded yesterday’s Yellow rainfall warning to an Orange level warning this morning as conditions worsen.
Some areas received close to 50 millimetres of rain overnight, and an additional 20 to 30 millimetres is expected through the day Wednesday. This could bring total rainfall amounts between 50 and 80 millimetres in some locations.
Weather officials say the ground is already saturated or frozen in many areas, meaning it cannot absorb much of the rainfall. This increases the risk of localized flooding, fast-moving water, and water pooling on roads.
Drivers are being warned that some roads could become difficult or impossible to pass if flooding occurs. Residents are reminded not to drive through flooded roadways and to stay away from rivers, creeks, and culverts where water levels may rise quickly.
