A beloved holiday tradition in Bayfield is marking a major milestone this year, and organizers are inviting the public to help celebrate.
The Christmas in Bayfield event is celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2026. To mark the occasion, organizers have launched a logo design contest, giving people the chance to create the first official logo for the long-running festival.
Terri Louch, chairperson of the Christmas in Bayfield committee, tells myFM why now was the right time.
Louch says the event first started as a small effort by local businesses.
Over the years, Christmas in Bayfield has grown into a popular seasonal celebration that attracts visitors from across Canada and beyond. Louch says some visitors even travel from overseas to attend.
The logo contest is open to everyone, with no age or location restrictions. Anyone with a creative idea is encouraged to take part, whether they are a professional designer or simply someone who enjoys drawing.
Entries can be submitted by email as a JPEG or PDF file, and the deadline to enter is April 30th. Full details about the contest can be found on the Village of Bayfield website.
After submissions close, a panel made up of committee members and community representatives will review the entries and select the winning design.
Louch had a special message for all those thinking of submitting a logo.
The winner will receive $500 in Chamber Bucks that can be spent at participating local businesses. They will also be recognized during the festival and may even serve as the parade marshal for this year’s celebration.
