A winter storm warning has been issued for parts of Huron County, including Exeter, Goderich, Bluewater, and Southern Huron County.
According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, hazardous winter weather is expected to begin this morning and continue through the evening.
Forecasters say the region could receive between 10 and 20 centimetres of snow, along with strong winds and blowing snow. Wind gusts may reach up to 60 kilometres per hour during the day, increasing to 70 to 90 kilometres per hour later in the evening, especially near Lake Huron.
Officials say the combination of fresh snow and strong winds could lead to poor visibility and widespread blowing snow, particularly in open areas. Visibility may drop suddenly at times, making travel difficult.
Drivers are being warned that road closures are possible, and strong winds could also lead to local power outages.
Environment Canada says conditions should begin to improve as the storm moves out of the province on Saturday morning.
Residents are encouraged to continue monitoring weather alerts and forecasts, and to use caution if they need to travel.
