The Lucan Irish Junior Hockey team has announced it will not return to the Provincial Junior Hockey League.
In a statement released by the team’s board of directors, the organization said the decision was made after careful thought and review of the team’s current situation and long-term future. The board says it looked at several factors over the past few months before deciding that stepping away from the league is the most responsible choice at this time.
The team says this decision reflects the challenges it is currently facing, as well as the direction of the organization moving forward.
Despite the change, the Lucan Irish expressed pride in its history and the many people who have been part of the team over the years. The board thanked former players, coaches, staff, volunteers, and executive members for their time and dedication. They also recognized the support of donors, fans, and community members who have stood behind the team.
Special thanks were also given to the staff at the Lucan Community Memorial Centre for their support and work to keep the arena running for junior hockey.
The organization says the community will remain a priority during this transition. The team also plans to keep supporters updated as decisions are made about what comes next.
