Residents in the Municipality of Bluewater will soon see crews begin the annual spring flushing of local watermains.
The work will be carried out by the Ontario Clean Water Agency to help keep the community’s drinking water system clean and running efficiently.
Flushing will begin in the Hensall area from March 30th to April 10th, followed by Zurich from April 13th to April 24th. The Lakeshore area will be flushed from April 27th to May 15th, with Bayfield scheduled from May 18th to June 5th.
The Varna distribution system will also be flushed on several dates throughout the year, including March 19th, May 21st, June 18th, July 16th, August 20th, September 17th, and October 15th.
During the flushing work, residents may notice temporary changes such as discoloured water or fluctuating water pressure. If discoloured water appears, residents are advised to run their cold water until it clears and consider flushing their hot water tank to remove any built-up sediment.
Officials say the maintenance work is an important part of keeping the water system operating safely and efficiently for the community.
