Drivers in Huron County can expect increased police presence as part of an upcoming traffic safety campaign.
Members of OPP say the “Stay Focused” campaign will run today to April 3rd. The initiative will target distracted driving, including texting, phone use, and other behaviours that take attention away from the road.
Police say distracted driving continues to be a serious issue across the West Region. In recent years, a number of fatal crashes have been linked to inattentive driving.
During the campaign, officers will carry out focused patrols in an effort to reduce these incidents and improve road safety.
Police remind drivers that using handheld devices, viewing screens while driving, and careless driving are all offences that can lead to fines, licence suspensions, demerit points, and other penalties.
Drivers are being urged to stay alert and focused behind the wheel. Anyone who sees dangerous driving is asked to contact police or call 911 in an emergency.
