A popular community fundraiser is returning to South Huron, bringing together local vendors and residents for a fun night out.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Huron is hosting a Quarter Auction on Thursday, April 9th at the South Huron Recreation Centre community hall.
Fund Development Coordinator Angie Steckle says the event is a great way to support local businesses while also raising money for the organization. The event will feature between 16 and 20 vendors offering a wide variety of items.
The auction will be held in three rounds. During the first two rounds, all bids will support the vendors. In the final round, proceeds will go directly to Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Huron.
Steckle says the event was taken over by the organization last year after being run for many years by a community member. Since then, it has become an important part of their fundraising efforts.
She adds that supporting local vendors is especially important, as many rely on events like this to help support their families.
Tickets must be purchased in advance, either online through the organization’s Facebook page or in person at the Little Shop. A limited number of tickets may be available at the door, but they are not guaranteed.
Steckle says the night is always a lot of fun, with many people attending in groups and making an evening out of it. A bar will also be available on site.
