South Huron Community Theatre is getting ready to bring the music and energy of Broadway to the stage with its upcoming spring production.
Board Chair Cheryl Masson says the production is a great way to showcase local talent. She says the group was created to give local performers a place to share their skills and grow in the performing arts.
All of the songs and routines are inspired by well-known Broadway musicals, with performers choosing pieces that are meaningful to them.
Masson noted it is so important to be able to support the arts, especially in a small, rural setting.
Preparations for the show have been underway since January. Performers and musicians spent several weeks practicing on their own before coming together in March to rehearse as a group.
Audiences are invited to enjoy a fun and relaxing night, or afternoon, filled with music, laughter, and dance. The show will take place at the South Huron Recreation Centre, located at 94 Victoria Street East in Exeter.
There will be three performances: April 17th at 7:30 p.m., and April 18th at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Doors will open 30 minutes before each show.
Tickets are $20 each and are available now at Hansen’s Courtesy Desk in Exeter and Havasu Coffee Co. in Zurich.
Masson says she is excited to see everything come together and looks forward to welcoming the community for an entertaining celebration of local talent and Broadway favourites.
