TODAY: Leadership In Training 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm The Leadership in Training (LIT) Program is designed to provide participants 12 – 15 years of age with foundational leadership skills and practical experience working with children and youth in a recreation setting. Running on Monday evenings at the South Huron Recreation Centre from April 20th to June 1st from 3:30pm – 5:30pm, the program includes 15.5 hours of classroom-based learning, where participants engage in interactive sessions covering key topics such as leadership styles, goal setting, effective communication, building trust, team building and cooperation, conflict resolution, and a resume writing workshop. Participants will also have the opportunity to obtain HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development certification, a nationally recognized standard for quality programs in children’s recreation and sport.
Following the classroom component, participants complete 15–20 hours of hands-on placement within a Municipality of South Huron child and youth recreation program. During this placement, participants work alongside experienced staff, assist in program delivery, support activities, and gain practical experience engaging and supervising children and youth.
