A new exhibition is set to open at Lambton Heritage Museum, offering visitors a closer look at the region’s connection to local waterways.
Bluewaterland: Dive Into the Depths will run from May 13th to October 18th. The exhibit explores how Lake Huron and the St. Clair River have shaped life in Lambton County over the years.
Visitors will learn about shipwrecks in Lake Huron, early navigation methods, and the history of mapping the Great Lakes. The exhibit also highlights the stories of local ship captains and features rare home video footage showing how people have enjoyed the shoreline over time.
The exhibit also looks at some unexpected topics, including surf culture on Lake Huron and the history of rumrunning along the St. Clair River during Prohibition.
One of the main features is the Huron Glow Collection, a display of sunset photos submitted by community members through a recent contest. Winning images will be on display throughout the exhibition.
Museum staff say the exhibit is a chance for people to explore the strong connection between the community and its surrounding waters, and to reflect on how these areas have shaped local life.
More information about the exhibit and upcoming events is available on the museum’s website.
