Construction work continues along Main Street in South Huron, with municipal officials sharing an update on progress and upcoming traffic changes.
The Municipality of South Huron says crews completed sanitary sewer installation last week on Main Street between Hill Street and Wellington Street. Contractors also completed a watermain cut and cap at Victoria Street.
This week, work will continue with sanitary sewer installation moving south toward Victoria Street. Storm sewer work is also expected to resume north of the Church Street intersection and continue toward Hill Street.
Southbound traffic detours using Church Street and William Street will remain in place until construction on the west side of Main Street is finished.
This week, northbound traffic will be detoured along Victoria Street, Andrew Street, and Wellington Street before reconnecting with Main Street.
Officials say sidewalks on the east side of Main Street and the east side of the bridge will remain open during this phase of construction.
Businesses and homes in the area will continue to remain accessible throughout the project, although drivers should expect delays and plan extra travel time because of detours and ongoing road work.
Municipal staff are thanking residents, businesses, and visitors for their patience and understanding as construction continues.
