The annual rummage sale supporting the South Huron Hospital Auxiliary is returning later this month, giving residents a chance to shop, donate, and support local healthcare at the same time.
Organizing committee member Barb Down told myFM the details of the event.
Donations will be accepted the day before the sale, on Thursday, May 28th, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the north end of the recreation centre on the arena floor. The drive-through drop-off system will be in place to make donating quick and easy.
A wide range of items will be accepted, including clothing, books, CDs, DVDs, puzzles, toys, baby items, sports equipment, seasonal décor, jewellery, bedding, housewares, and small furniture items.
However, some items will not be accepted. These include electronics such as televisions and computers, large furniture, single glassware items, large mirrors or pictures, used candles, car seats, Christmas trees, and some other household goods.
Down says the event has been running for many years and remains an important community tradition.
She says it helps residents clear out unwanted items while raising funds to support patient care at the local hospital.
Volunteers are always welcome to help with the event. Down says people can simply show up on the day or leave their contact information at the hospital gift shop, which is also run by auxiliary members.
Shoppers are reminded to bring their own bags and cash, as card payments will not be available.
