Municipality of South Huron says work continues on the Main Street reconstruction project, with crews making progress on sewer installation and underground infrastructure.
Last week, contractors continued sanitary sewer work on Main Street between Wellington and Victoria Streets, while storm sewer installation continued between Church and Hill Streets.
Municipal officials say sanitary sewer installation on Main Street is expected to be completed this week, with storm sewer work continuing toward Wellington Street.
As construction continues on the west side of Main Street, southbound traffic will continue to be detoured along Church and William Streets.
The intersection of Main and Victoria Streets will also close for two days starting Monday while crews complete sanitary sewer work. During the closure, northbound traffic will be redirected along Gidley Street, Andrew Street, and Wellington Street before returning to Main Street.
Officials say the crosswalk at Victoria Street will remain open for pedestrians, and sidewalks on the east side of Main Street and the bridge will stay accessible during this phase of construction.
The municipality says businesses remain open and access to homes and businesses will continue to be maintained as much as possible during the project.
Drivers are being reminded to expect delays and allow extra travel time while detours remain in place.
