The IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s is back and will take place across seven communities in Huron and Perth counties on Saturday, May 30th, bringing people together to support those living with dementia.
The walk will run in Clinton, Exeter, Goderich, Listowel, St. Marys, Stratford, and Wingham, making it easier for residents to take part close to home. Participants can begin registering at 9 a.m., with the walk starting at 10 a.m. People can walk as little or as far as they choose.
Erin Dale, Manager of Fund Development, Communications, and Volunteers, says participants can register online at walkforalzheimer.ca or simply show up on the day of the event. Fundraising pledges are encouraged, but not required.
Dale says the walk has been running for more than 20 years.
She adds that dementia affects many families in the community.
Funds raised through the walk stay in Huron and Perth counties to support local programs and services.
Dale notes this year’s event is especially meaningful.
Organizers say donations in her name can be made through the Wingham walk page on the event website.
The walk will go ahead rain or shine, with indoor options available at some locations, including Exeter, so participants can take part regardless of weather.
