Time for our daily Animal House Feature.
How about a new pet in the house?
Have you ever thought about fostering?
The Humane Society London Middlesex could sure use your help. They paused their foster program when they were going through their huge move into their new facility on Dundas Street in London but it’s back now.
Director of Community and Animal Supports, Melanie Paterack says they brought it back because they recognized the strong benefits of it.
The program has been built from scratch with a new foster coordinator and team.
Paterack says they do their best to enrich the animals every day with activities, many volunteer programs and even reading to the animals but there are some who just aren’t thriving in the shelter.
They’re the best candidates for the foster program. Also those who’ve had surgery or an illness and baby animals.
And it’s not just dogs and cats that can be fostered. Paterack says critters can too; rodents, bunnies, guinea pigs and other animals.
If you think you might make a good foster parent, head to HSLM.ca, click on how to help, there’s a dropdown menu that has foster and all the information you need is there.
It will be a short application process followed by a phone call with the foster coordinator.
