After more than a decade away, the South Huron Trail Run is making its return this summer.
Community organizers have announced that the popular event will take place on Sunday, August 30th, along the South Huron Trail.
Organizers say runners have been asking for the event to return, and there is already plenty of excitement surrounding its comeback.
The trail run will feature two routes. An eight-kilometre run will take participants across Jones Bridge, while a 3.25-kilometre run and walk will cross Lions Bridge and Stirling Bridge. The event is designed for both experienced runners and beginners who want to enjoy the scenic trail system.
Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. on race day. The 3.25-kilometre walk and run begins at 9:30 a.m., followed by the eight-kilometre run at 9:45 a.m.
Organizers are also looking for volunteers to help before and during the event.
All proceeds from the trail run will support future maintenance and improvements to the South Huron Trail system.
The South Huron Trail Run was held for more than a decade before ending in 2015. A group of local volunteers is now bringing the event back for a new generation of runners and walkers.
