Construction is officially underway on a major wastewater infrastructure project in Lucan.
The Township of Lucan Biddulph is celebrating the groundbreaking of the Lucan Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion Project, marking the start of an important investment in the community’s future.
Municipal officials say the expansion will modernize and improve the existing wastewater treatment system while creating additional capacity to support future residential and business growth. The project is also expected to improve system reliability and strengthen environmental protection.
The project is being supported by more than $18.5 million in funding from the Province of Ontario through the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program’s Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund.
The Township says while wastewater infrastructure often operates behind the scenes, it plays a critical role in supporting quality of life, economic development, and the long-term sustainability of the community.
