Construction continues to move forward on Main Street in Exeter as crews make progress on underground infrastructure and road improvements.
The Municipality of South Huron says contractors continued installing catch basins, storm services, and sanitary services last week. Road work also began at Church Street, where crews started excavating and placing the granular road base.
This week, work will continue on the west side of Main Street as crews complete the installation of catch basins, storm services, and sanitary services. Road preparation will also continue ahead of the installation of new concrete curbs.
Traffic restrictions remain in place during construction. Northbound traffic will continue to use a single lane on Main Street, while southbound traffic will be detoured along Church Street and William Street until work on the west side of Main Street is complete.
The Municipality says businesses remain open throughout the project, and access to homes and businesses will continue to be maintained as much as possible.
Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, expect delays, and follow the posted detour routes. Municipal officials are thanking residents, businesses, and visitors for their continued patience and cooperation while the project moves forward.
