Grand Bend Beach Patrol members had a busy Canada Day, making 32 water rescues as thousands of people visited the beach during the holiday.
The Municipality of Lambton Shores says the combination of hot weather, large crowds, and a fast-moving storm over Lake Huron kept lifeguards busy throughout the day.
Municipal officials are praising the Beach Patrol for their professionalism and quick response, saying their training and skills helped keep beachgoers safe during changing conditions.
Visitors heading to Grand Bend Beach this summer are reminded that Beach Patrol lifeguards supervise designated swimming areas at the main beach and north beach.
The Municipality is also encouraging everyone to pay close attention to changing weather and water conditions, swim only in supervised areas, and always keep a close watch on children near the water.
Lambton Shores is thanking the Grand Bend Beach Patrol for its dedication and hard work in helping make the beach a safe place for residents and visitors all summer long.
