Huron County OPP is warning local businesses and residents after several suspected counterfeit five-dollar bills were used in Goderich and Clinton over the past month.
Police say the fake bills looked similar to real Canadian money, but they showed noticeable signs of excessive wear and differences in colour.
Residents are encouraged to check any five-dollar bills they receive. If you think you have a counterfeit bill, do not try to spend it. Instead, contact Huron County OPP. Officers will send the bill to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) for further examination.
