Newcomer Day at Camp is returning to Goderich this weekend, bringing newcomers to Canada and the local community together for a free day of fun, food and friendship.
The event takes place this Saturday, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Camp Klahanie, 33612 Blacks Point Road, Goderich.
Visitors can enjoy soccer, volleyball, a guided hike, an African drumming workshop, dance workshops and children’s painting activities. There will also be a cricket demonstration and a chance to meet a farm animal.
A community barbecue will offer halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options. People are also encouraged to bring a dessert from their own culture to share with others.
The day will end with a bonfire and marshmallows.
Newcomer Day at Camp has been held since 2019. Organizers say it gives newcomers a chance to meet other people, learn about local services and build connections in the community.
The event is free and open to newcomers and their supporters.
