The South Huron Trail Run is making its return after a 10-year break.
The event is being brought back by local runners and the Friends of the Trail, a committee of the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority.
Volunteer Tom Prout says the trail is a great place for a run because people can enjoy the scenery along the river while taking part in the event.
There will be two options for runners this year.
Race-day timing will be done using chips, so participants will receive an official time.
Prout says the event is also a way to support the trail. All money raised from the run will go back toward trail maintenance and keeping the trail in good shape for the community.
He told myFM why now was the right time to bring the event back.
Advance registration is encouraged, although people can also register on race day. The cost is $70 for the 8K and $50 for the 3.25K.
The race will go ahead in most weather conditions, but could be cancelled in the event of a thunderstorm or very heavy rain.
People who want to support the trail but do not want to run can also make a donation toward trail maintenance.
