Like everyone else, small towns and municipalities will feel the pain from escalating tariffs on both sides of the border.

Chair of the Rural Ontario Municipal Association Christa Lowry says she and other rural Ontario mayors are starting the discussions and trying to prepare themselves, but it’s still unclear how this is going to go.
Lowry adds it would be foolish to think the tariffs won’t impact municipalities. Lowry says it’s important that municipalities plan for this.
According to a report by the Association of Municipalities of Ontario, the cost of electrical equipment, steel and diesel pose the greatest risk to Ontario municipalities, given their heavy reliance on US imports.
