People across parts of Huron County are being urged to take cover as dangerous thunderstorms move through the area.
Environment Canada has issued a RED-level severe thunderstorm warning for Goderich, Bluewater and southern Huron County.
The storms were moving east at about 75 kilometres an hour and could bring damaging winds, large hail and heavy rain. Power outages, damage to trees and buildings, flash flooding and poor visibility are also possible.
Areas that could be affected include Goderich, Bayfield, Blyth, Grand Bend, Zurich, Wingham, Hensall, Exeter, Mitchell and Lucan.
A tornado watch is also in effect for the area. Environment Canada says conditions are favourable for severe thunderstorms that could produce a tornado, wind gusts over 110 kilometres an hour, large hail and torrential rain.
Residents are being told to take shelter immediately if threatening weather approaches. Stay indoors and away from windows, and avoid driving through flooded roads.
Anyone near Lake Huron or out on the water should head to shore and find shelter as soon as dangerous weather approaches.
