Noah’s Ark is celebrating 10 years of serving the community, and everyone is invited to join the celebration this Saturday from 10am to 2pm at the thrift store.
Executive Director Andrea Loohuizen says the event is a chance to thank the community.
The free event will include a bouncy castle, cotton candy, popcorn and a pancake and sausage lunch. There will also be 15 local vendors, along with service providers who will be on hand to explain the programs and support they offer.
Noah’s Ark has three main areas of service. Its thrift store sells mostly donated items, while the Community Table provides meals, including Thursday lunches and food available throughout the week.
The organization has also partnered with United Way to operate the Connection Center. The centre helps people meet their basic needs by offering showers, laundry, meals and access to service providers.
Loohuizen says none of this would be possible without the community.
She says donations, financial support, volunteers and community advocacy all help Noah’s Ark support local families and people who are vulnerable.
With many families facing higher costs, Noah’s Ark is currently looking for donations of food to help stock their shelves.
Volunteers are also always welcome. Loohuizen says there are many different ways people can help.
The 10th anniversary celebration is free to attend, with donations being accepted for the Angel Project. Money raised will help provide food for families at Christmas.
