As part of 90.5 myFM’s 2026 Election Coverage, myFM reached out to candidates in South Huron, Bluewater, Lambton Shores and Lucan-Biddulph to hear why they believe residents should vote for them on October 26th.
Here’s what Joan Bradley, running for Hensall Ward in Bluewater had to say.
TRANSCRIBED AUDIO:
“My name is Joan Bradley. I am running for municipal counselor, Hensall Ward, for the Municipality of Bluewater.
I’ve been a resident of Hensall for 22 years. I’ve worked in both of the long-term care facilities in Bluewater in leadership roles, building on a career as a healthcare nutrition manager. My family is owned and operated a small business in King Street in Hensall. I’ve served as the chair for parent council on Hensall Public School. I was the representative for the school accommodation review committee in 2010, which resulted in the renaming of the school Bluewater Coast.
I’ve been a 4-H leader in the community as well. My husband, Nick, and I have been very pleased to raise our three daughters in this safe, beautiful community. I feel like it’s time I give back to the community and help shape the future as a municipal councillor for Hensall Ward. As Canadians are diversifying our trading partners, our daily lives will become more fiscally challenging as new suppliers and trading partnerships are developed. While a municipal councillor has no impact on foreign policy, I do believe municipal government has a role to play. We need fiscally responsible, strong communities, and I see a municipal councillor’s job is to protect our future on a local level.
Affordability is one of the biggest issues facing the ratepayers of Bluewater, and it is council’s job to control costs to the best of their ability while maintaining and improving the services and infrastructure for the residents and visitors to Bluewater. The province of Ontario needs to provide appropriate and timely funding to municipalities to ensure that there is infrastructure to support financial growth while protecting our agricultural and natural resources.
I am a listening ear. I will try my best to resolve issues as they arise while maintaining cost controls for all ratepayers. I will work hard to be a voice for Hensall at Bluewater Council. When you receive your ballot in the mail, please take the time to vote. Your vote matters.
If you live in the Hensall Ward, consider casting your vote for Joan Bradley.”
