TRANSCRIBED AUDIO:
“My name is Aaron Neeb and I am the incumbent councillor for Exeter Ward 2. Serving Exeter for the last eight years has been an incredible privilege. I’m pleased to announce that I’m seeking re-election to South Huron Council on October 26, 2026. Over the past eight years, I’ve proudly served Exeter with a commitment to supporting community wellbeing, economic development, financial integrity, and public accountability.
As a young father with two children, I know the impact that our municipal government can make for residents now and into the future. For the past eight years as the youngest member of council, I also know how important it is for the voices of young residents to be heard and taken into consideration when council is making decisions. During my tenure, councils prioritize the safety and vitality of our municipality. To protect our residents, we reduce speed limits on residential streets and to move forward with crucial pedestrian crossovers.
As a member of Council, I’ve also supported reinvestment in the South Huron Vitality Fund to support local initiatives, non-profits and charities. I’ve also pushed and supported the modernization of both the Exeter and Dashwood fire halls to ensure our first responders have the resources they need to respond in emergency. In economic development, our municipality continues to experience strong growth, with seven new housing developments bringing over 950 housing units to South Huron. Furthermore, we successfully secured $8.7 million in funding to revitalize and modernize our Exeter Main Street infrastructure.
Moving forward, my goal is to oversee the implementation and refinement of South Huron’s Community Improvement Plan to provide the right incentives for our local businesses and community to thrive. For our recreation services, we have actively invested in spaces that bring families together, such as the new Victoria Street Playground. But there more to be done. I remain strongly in favour of proceeding with the gymnasium and walking track for our residents, and I will advocate for investing in newer infrastructure, including an Exeter dog park. Alongside these community spaces, we must also continue targeted investments into the Exeter Fire Hall to support our growing needs.
As a Councillor, I strive to ensure that municipal growth pays for itself. We have actively protected taxpayers by implementing fair development charges, ensuring that new developments bear their appropriate share of infrastructure costs. Development costs should not be on your tax bill. We must continue to invest our tax dollars wisely to avoid unnecessary future tax or user fee hikes. By continuing our active investment into South Huron’s asset management plan, we will ensure that infrastructure spending is spread out equitably across generations.
My deep experience and knowledge of municipal government continues to benefit the residents of South Huron. I’ve served as your Ward 2 Councillor since 2018. Over the years, I’ve been a member of the Committee of Adjustment, the Fire Services Committee, and the Heritage Advisor Committee. I’ve also brought my voice to the Exeter BIA, the Mayor’s Community COVID Recovery Task Force, and the South Huron Recreation Task Force. I have the time, energy, and vision to continue moving our municipality forward.
I faithfully attend meetings, read Council agendas, and am not afraid to say and do what’s right for South Huron today and tomorrow. I make decisions based on data, best practices, and sound recommendations from our professional staff. I follow due process and ensure that the municipality and the taxpayer are protected from unnecessary legal and financial liability. Collaboration and respect remain essential skills on Council and committees. where you’re only one voice at the table. As your Councillor, I will continue to develop positive relationships with Council, staff and the community in order to move South Huron forward, tactfully and responsibly. Thank you.”
