As part of 90.5 myFM’s 2026 Election Coverage, myFM reached out to candidates in South Huron, Bluewater, Lambton Shores and Lucan-Biddulph to hear why they believe residents should vote for them on October 26th.
Here’s what Antonio Munion, running for Ward 2 in South Huron had to say.
TRANSCRIBED AUDIO:
“I am running for a spot on council because I believe South Huron thrives when residents feel heard, supported and connected. After moving to Exeter in 2021, I experienced firsthand the strength of this community. The neighbor to neighbor support, the pace of life and the sense of belonging that small towns offer.
Owning and operating AHS of Exeter has allowed me to work directly with local families and businesses, giving me a clear understanding of the everyday challenges and opportunities in our community. I want to bring that hands-on practical perspective to council and help strengthen the place we all call home.
One of the most pressing issues in South Huron is access to healthcare. Many residents struggle to find a family doctor and our emergency services face increasing pressure as result. This affects families, seniors and newcomers alike. Alongside healthcare access, maintaining safe, welcoming public spaces and supporting community groups and events are ongoing priorities. These are the things that make small towns vibrant and connected. And they deserve consistent attention and support.
While I haven’t held elected office before, my professional and community experience has prepared me for the responsibility of being a councillor. As the owner of AHS of Exeter, I manage projects, budgets, client relationships, and problem solving on daily basis.
Running a local service business requires accountability, transparency, and the ability to listen. All essential qualities for a good councillor. My involvement in the community, working closely with residents, seniors, family, and local businesses has given me insights into the needs and priorities of people across South Huron. These experiences have shaped my understanding of how Municipal decisions impact everyday life.
Residents should vote for me because I bring a practical, community-focused perspective grounded in real, everyday experience. I’m not approaching this from a political angle. I’m approaching it as a neighbour, a local business owner, and someone who genuinely cares about the future of South Huron. I listen. I show up. I work hard. And I’m committed to strengthening the sense of connection belonging and shared responsibilities that makes our community special.”
