Local businesses in South Huron are getting a chance to be recognized by the people who live and work in the community.
Exeter BIA Business Manager, Caroline Hill, says the South Huron Business Excellence Awards are special to the area.
This year, the Exeter BIA has teamed up with the Huron Chamber of Commerce through HuronAccolades.ca.
The program allows people to give a shout-out to a local business, employee or employer. The messages can recognize great service, community support, manufacturing or anything else that makes a local business stand out.
Hill says the best part is that it is completely free.
When someone submits an accolade, it can be shared on social media and also helps nominate the business for both the South Huron Business Excellence Awards and the Huron Chamber’s Spirit of Success Awards.
Hill says even a simple positive review or recommendation can make a big difference to a small business.
Hill says Huron Accolades is not just for the awards season.
Some local businesses also have cards with QR codes that can be scanned to make submitting an accolade quick and easy.
Residents are encouraged to take a few minutes to recognize a local business that has made a difference. A simple shout-out could help a local business get noticed, grow and receive the recognition it deserves.
