Hensall Co-op is giving $30,000 to six not-for-profit organizations in Ontario and Manitoba through its Strong Communities Initiative.
The program is now in its sixth year and has provided more than $180,000 to organizations supporting rural communities.
One local organization will be receiving $10,000.
Stephen Central Public School in South Huron will use the funding toward a new playground. The existing playground equipment had to be removed because of its age, and the school is working to replace and improve the equipment, including adding accessible features.
Four other organizations will each receive $2,500.
They include the Mitchell Agricultural Society, Ailsa Craig Food Bank, Alexandra Marine and General Hospital Foundation and Glenboro Agricultural Society in Manitoba.
